In Their Own Words

Last Year’s State of the Kid Report

Last year, the first annual State of the Kid survey allowed us to tell the world what it was like being a kid in 2009. Kids 5 and up told Highlights about their problems, interests and experiences.

Kids told us that being a kid is downright fun, but it can also be tough. They worry about tests, homework, the economy and the environment. We also learned some surprising things about kids' life at home. Did you know that more girls than boys are asked to do chores?

For these revelations and others, take a look at last year results:

Highlights

At Highlights, we're focused on helping children grow up to be confident, creative, curious, and caring individuals. We love getting the mail they send us and hearing their perspective on things.

In our State of the Kid survey, we gave kids a national platform to share their thoughts on their interests, concerns, and experiences growing up today.
